There many I like but the one I can think right now would be ''Sting & The Police - Every Breath You Take''. It relax me. Or ''Haddaway - What is Love'' because of that funny scene in ''Night at Roxbury''.

What about yours?

Anybody that says Poison, Debbie Gibson, Huey Lewis (w/ or w/o the News), Wang Chung, Stryper or Men w/o Hats get a perm ban. :D ;)

FWIW I think that pop music now is far, far, far worse than even any of who I just posted.

Best:

GnR (aren't they really 90s?), U2 (just then not now!), The Smiths, and most the the artists on WaxTrax/4AD and the other indie labels of the time!

What is Love is actually from the 90's, but it's still a very nice pick and so is A Night at the Roxbury.

As for some excellent 80's music, I'd probably pick several of the songs from the Vice City soundtrack.

A lot of great music was made during the 80's, but it's not all of it that I actually associate with 80's music. Like Metallica for example. It just doesn't sound like the kind of music that I think of when it comes to music from that period.

I am actually more into 70's, but there are definitely great names from 80's worth mentioning, I must pick at least Iron Maiden and Queensryche.
(And yes, Aegis, you're right, my friend, Haddaway - What Is Love? is from early 90's)

The Go-Go's. Best girl band ever.

BROS, the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing, Cliff Richard & the Young Ones, Jason Donovan, Don Johnson, Rick Astley, the Swedish guys with the golden shoes who won Eurovision, Yoko Ono, Cameo ("Word Up"),

and most of all: Men Without Hats! :1orglaugh

Seriously: Elvis Costello and the Smiths defined the 80ies to me.

in rock/pop: some Adriano Celentano albums in 80's were very nice!

in rap: LL Cool J, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Jungle Brothers, Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, Stetsasonic.. in fact 80's = classic

in reggae: Dillinger, Yellowman, Eek-A-Mouse, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Augustus Pablo, Macka B, Ini Kamoze, Pato Banton... all that early raggamuffin was great!

I was into punk in the late 70s and 80s.Used to go CBGBs in NY a lot.The thing I liked about it was that most of the bands really didn't take themselves too seriously and it was seen as just playing some kicking tunes and partying lol.To many good groups to list them all but here are a few.

The Ramones
The Dead Boys
Blondie
Elvis Costello
B'52s

And lots more, plus lots of one or two hit wonders.
