XM SATELLITE-sirius Merger!?

i think this is a bad idea especially putting the Clueless mel Karmazin in the top spot. he is still living in the 70's. i have XM because of Opie & Anthony and if they are let go,released, fired because they are rivals of unfunny, outdated and straight up liar Stern i will immediately cancel my XM subscription without hesitation.

You mean you'll cancel your Sirixm (say serious. say ISM like jism. Not say serixm!)

They cant make it on their own. If they join together, they actually stand a chance. Would you rather have no satellite radio at all? I for one think normal FM radio is an ancient relic. Gimme satellite and no strings attached. Cancel this, cancel that.. your ten bucks a month honestly doesnt make them shake in their boots with regret, whale.

no i wasn't saying i would cancel it to "show them" or to make a statement but if they fired the 2 shows that i really only use XM for(O&A and Ron & Fez)
i would cancel it because they would be on Free-fm here in NY/NJ 92.3 or k-rock or whatever it is called nowadays.
i think since i got XM 2+ years ago when O&A first came back on i think i changed the channel like 15 times. i only listen to XM202-the Virus. any other music i listen to they don't have a station that gets that hard (well xmxl does a little)-liquid metal. but i just listen to CD's or my mp3's

Good to see another O & A and Ron and Fez fan here, but I wouldnt hold my breath that this thing will ever happen. They have some pretty high hurdles to get over in order for the government to ever allow this to happen. It pretty much breaks every anti-monopoly law thats ever been established, not to mention the FCC pretty has it out for satellite radio to begin with.

Then you can probably say goodbye to satellite radio altogether. Everyone knows of the financial troubles they're going through.

'Recent remarks by top officials within both companies have hinted at a possible move to join forces to stave off billion-dollar losses associated with increased competition between the two services.'

Yes, I know, sad but true, Im one of the few who would rather shell out the money rather than sit through 20 minutes of commercials every hour. I'd almost rather have satellite radio than cable tv.

Not so fast folks. The FTC might have something to say about this before it goes through.

"But there's a possibility that even the merger-mad Federal Communications Commission (FCC) may have trouble with this one. FCC chairman Kevin Martin has been lukewarm to the idea and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) may also look askance at it."

It takes a bit of looking around, and there's little to no competition against XM/Sirius in the 'Radio Personalities' area. But.. have you ever tried
www.shoutcast.com ? Fire up winamp and choose a station. Unless you happen to spend an inordinate amount of time in YOUR CAR.. it's certainly a viable alternative. :)
