I get what Cowell is claiming. It's a non-competition segment of the show, therefore they can do whatever they want to it to make it as good as possible. Here's the problem though: it still factors in to the public's perception of the performer, just like everything else they do on the show. That's the nature of "reality" television. Think about this: if a singer gives the performance of a lifetime and then immediately follows that up by saying something phenomenally offensive to a lot of viewers, are they going to stay in the competition? Possibly not. Why? Because everything they do on the show is being judged, not just the performance itself. Personality, interviews, personal history, and, yes, ensemble performances may all be non-competition segments, but they all influence voting nonetheless.

I think people, on both sides of the Atlantic, are waking up to this reality crap. The UK X-Factor - a lot of people say it is fixed. I would agree. Look at Leona Lewis FOR EXAMPLE.

Real people doing real jobs can't fake working.

Point 1 - Many do - eg Ms Spears, but also any energentic performance is probably 50% minimum pre-recorded and synced. That is the music industry these days.

I **** to say this, but Leona is one of the few great things to come out of this show. Yes, she got a start from it, but there is no denying that she has a spectacular voice.
