Have they lost their minds? 1st they want you to pay for Word 07, now they charge you for customer support! I just tried to email them and they wanted $50. :thefinger

I've never understood the use of paying for word processing programs anyway (at least for private use). How many times do you use it anyway?

I'm not the one to download it illegaly either, so your stuck with the - just not as good, but at least it's $60 cheaper - programs...

And none of the Office programs have had any significant improvement over the years in my opinion either....

My pc contains 90% illegal sofwares including Windows XP and Office 2003 and 10% legal softwares (shareware demos). :) I also had some OEM numbers for several versions of Windows.

Why should you pay for windows?
The development of "office" is far more complex then an operating system, so its not more then normal that you pay for it. While windows it self cost more to use if you are looking at if from a business point of view.

There are enough alternatives as you and the others posted before i don't know what the op means by " he cant download a template " but i think they are ways to workaround his problem.

Your opinion about that Office didn't improve, well if you know your way around the computer you probably could do without all the GUI improvement and an older version of Office would do just fine. However more and more companies are getting depended on IT which means they have to have employees capable of using programs as Office. This is Microsoft strongest business strategy to bring you a product that is easy to use. Ask a person to do something easy as doing a layout they wont be able to even I think its way "easier" now days.

I remember having some issues last year and I called them up and to "help" me, they wanted to charge me $59, but that was only IF I called during business hours, since it was in the evening, I would be charged $359.

I hung up the phone, kicked my computer a whole bunch of times, and then it worked fine!
