It's weird that you said that. Because I think the same thing when it comes to The Lost Boys 2 and the alternative ending in the extras section. The unused ending is far superior to the ending they decided to go with for the release.

I've never seen the sequel but I liked the first one. And yeah, who knows why they change the endings. If the test audiences didn't approve, then sometimes they just go whichever one was popular. I bet every once in awhile they'll get an outlier, or they cost to edit the scene will be over the limit for production.
