Speaking of Madonna,
here's some tragic news regarding her. What makes it worse for me personally is that, just like the victims of this tragedy, I've worked for Live Nation (for 8 years now), and I've worked directly with some of the guys who were injured. It's not like they had complete imbeciles working, as the StageCo guys, the company that builds the stages, are all very hardcore and very professional. I don't know if the guy that was killed was someone that I knew personally, but this totally hits home for me, as these were my stagehand brothers.
Another thing that really scares me is that all this week I've been working on a similar build for Kenny Chesney at AT&T Park in San Fagcisco. So far there haven't been any major mishaps, but the stage was just finished today. Monday we have to go back and tear it all down, and that's where shit could go seriously wrong. I'm not sure if I'd be more scared of having the roof, which weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 tons, collapse on me while I'm on the deck, or being in the steel 80' in the air if it falls. Either scenario really worries me, and I know that both are a definite possibility. I hope nothing like that happens to us.
