Would The Church Of Satan Have Caught On Better If Vincent Price Founded It?

Vincent Price woulda been so much better than that carny Howard Levey.

Most things would be better if Vincent Price had had a hand in them.

Of course it would have. Hell, Alice Cooper would have sold about 500,000 less copies of Welcome To My Nightmare if Vince hadn't appeared on it.

Theres a Church of Satan???

and who in the fuck is Vincent Price???

:dunno:

It might had caught on better if it had chosen a more fitting name. Members of The Church of Satan doesn´t believe in god or the devil. This type of satanism is more of a selfish life philosophy than a religion.

This makes me sad.

Not really surprising. The guy died 20 years ago. His last onscreen appearance was, what, 23-25 years ago? Short of movie buffs we're coming up on a generation of people who aren't likely to know him at all, beyond maybe some pop culture references...

That's not an excuse: Everything they want to know about the man is at their fingertips, if they so choose.

Now, whether they care enough to make the effort to do the back-breaking work which consists wholly of typing "Vincent Price" into the search engine of their choice, well, it's their loss if they don't.

Did he spend so much time in England that he picked up the British accent? For the longest time I thought he was British.

Same could be said about Mary Pickford. She was rated the 24th Greatest Female Star of All Time by the AFI... yet I'm sure 99% of people these days have never heard of her because she was from the silent era and hasn't been onscreen in about 80 years. It's just the way of things...

EDIT:

Holy shit, FreeOnes has a babe page for Mary Pickford... wow.

Actually, he died in 93. And it's sad that people don't know him because he was probably one of the greatest villains ever, and he really put horror movies on the map along with actors like Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff whom I'm sure only Price fans in this thread have ever heard of.

And yet I'm sure the majority of the Who Dat? folks know of his movies, classics of horror, and most have seen Edward Scissorhands.
I never knew him but over the years his movies have played over and over.
Peter Lorre was in several Bogart classics, and so on.
