Without a doubt the best song ever.

Mock. Yeah!

My personal "best song ever" is actually the entirety of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 (especially the 3rd & 4th piece) though... Goddamn what a MASTERPIECE!!!

FUUUUCK!!! When will people understand that if something doesn't have words IT'S NOT A FUCKING SONG, IT'S A PIECE!!! A song is music which has or has had words written to be sung with the music. A piece is music that has never had words written to go along with it.

Also, if you're talking about a symphony, such as Dvořák's 9th New World Symphony, the pieces that make up the symphony are called movements, and are often simply called by the tempo of the movement. Well, that was pre-Romantic. Starting in the Romantic period composers would sometimes name their pieces by name, and not just by tempo.

Ok. I got that off my chest. :)

There was a reason for the quotation marks... I didn't know exactly what to call it. Thanks for clarifying it for me sir

I knew about pieces/movements and all that, but as I'm not very learned with Classical music, that terminology often slips my mind. My bad!

All good. That's just been a pet peeve of mine since I was in college. Not just me, though. Pretty much any music major that you tell that Für Elise is a song will snap; it's like hearing nails on a blackboard. My favorite was when some doofus would make that mistake in a theory class, and the instructor heard him... :violent:

Haha, good times. I admittedly plead ignorance, but genuinely appreciate the refresh of knowledge. Can't go wrong with knowledge. It's an endless hunger that can NEVER possibly be quenched.
