Do any of you people think he would ever break the record. I think he'll catch Ruth for Certain but Aaron it is out of reach

1.yes
2.no
3.yes, if he plays in the 2007 season

I say no....when he/if gets to 754 nobody will pitch to him I think coaches will just walk him and walk so he doesnt get the record...But my betting is Albert Puljos or A-rod will make a good run at the record in a few years

i agree with you with the puljos and the a-rod answer because they r both monsters. I think a-rod has a chance at 800 if he can keep up the pace. You seen a-rods swing its like he doesn't even try. By next year he'll have 500+

Nope and even if he does, nobody will care! He's finished anyway, and I wouldn't doubt if he retires at the end of the season.

You all do know Hank Aaron is Bond's godfather right?

I think he will but it will not be allowed because of steroid use. I am convinced that just looking at him he has used steroids and it will all come out eventually.

Hope not.

and Freaky,I knew that.:D

At this point, it looks like it's more likely his health will deteriorate faster than his ability to get the record. It is always possible that he sticks around years more to pad the stats enough to get it but I don't think so.

I think he doesn't he'll get 830 home runs and after the season he'll hang it up because you could tell he just wants to get away from it all

I agree... I don't believe for a second Bonds is not on the juice and that taints any and all records he does or will ever hold. It's too bad because he was a good player without the steroids... but one has to go all the way back to his days in Pittsburgh to see it.

With the exception of Cal Ripken's consecutive game record, I have my doubts about any MLB record broken after 1995. I don't think the appropriate question is whether ball players use steroids... the question is to what extend they all use them.:2 cents:

He won't do it. His body is wearing down, and even though he hasn't hit will, people still don't pitch to him. And when they do, he can't get the bat around fast enough, nor does he have the range that he used to.

No way. He's a shell of his former freakish self. 'roids are worse than crystal meth in some ways when it comes to accelerating the aging process once you stop taking them. Remember McGwire at the house hearings last year? He looked like he was 60 years old. If he can't keep juicing, Barry's done.

I dislike Barry Bonds immensely not only for the 'roids but because he is an arrogant, selfish, racist asshole. I feel it is a shame though since he is such a great talent without the juice but now he is just a gross mutation that makes a travesty of the entire sport and its hallowed "records".

Message to Barry: Put an end to the shame and quit now.

It's good to be the king...
Heard on the BBC that Bonds has matched Babe Ruth's career home run total - 714:

Bonds ties Ruth on all-time list

How was the news greeted in the US? And was the allegations of steroid abuse confirmed?

(sorry about the questions - but I don't follow Baseball that much)

Nikkala made me do it!
I guess this would be the proper place to say that Russ Springer is my freakin hero.

As I said earlier Puljos looks like he has a great shot he just hit his 22nd homerun of the year today and it looks like he has a shot of getting to at least 60 this year and a shot of breaking Bonds 73hr record which would be great for baseball hoping and it looks like Puljos is steriod free....

Puljos already has 223 career Hr and is only 26

I hope not. Hank Aaron set the record without cheating. Bonds may be clean right now (by force) but he hit a lot of home runs while on the 'roids.

No. His body is falling apart and won't last another season. Besides in my eyes his records don't count. The guy has been juiced up for years. It's a shame that ESPN constantly sucks his dick every single day. My god they break coverage to show him at batting practice. The guy's a liar and he's put a black mark on the history of baseball. Same thing for the single season HR record, to me it's still Maris. Maguire and Sosa were juiced up in '98 too, follow that up by Bonds breaking their records. Until someone can hit HR's clean it's Maris, Ruth and Aaron who can rest comfortably.

I don't think he will do it this season, and unless some teams will take him as a DH in the AL next season, I can't see him breaking it next season either.

I may be the only on that thinks this, but there is one real big problem with Bonds tying Ruth's home run number. And that is that Bonds did it in 900, and counting, more at bats than Ruth did (At bats not plate appearances). Just think of what the Babe or Hank Aaron for that matter could have done with 900 more at bats, they probably would have more than 1000 home runs. There probably isnt a better way of making the records show this fact, but thats something that should be taken into account when talking about these all-time records.
