Why is it Famous?

So I work in a department store and we mostly sell clothing and shoes and knickknacks for the house. But we also sell junk food and candy and some ***'s toys. Since I've been working there I've noticed that we get a large amount of Angry Birds merchandise such as shirts, toys, LOTS of candy, and coloring books. All I know is that the Angry Birds is a video game for the cell phone and apparently it has caught on in "gaming culture". I have to admit that I don't know jack **** about modern video games or what is considered popular right now. I have a coworker who is in his late 40s and we're both equally confused as to how something this stupid looking: Premium Link Upgrade would be so popular. Last week I put up a display of poster-size Angry Birds coloring books at the check out line and some ******** actually did gather around me all excited as I was displaying them. I felt like I was building a mall Santa attraction and everyone was watching in anticipation.

So was the Angry Birds marketed towards ******** from the very beginning or did it just catch on with people and advertising executives got the idea to market the **** out of it like the Ninja Turtles back in the late 80s?
