Me personally, I like knowing the names of porn stars so I know who to look for later if I find one I particularly like. Plus, after years of watching porn and seeing the same girls pop up over and over, you eventually just learn their names.

This question can actually have a number of different answers, good and bad. Here's one good answer:
Not many pornstars cross over to mainstream work. Those that do, sometimes go by their real name, or some variation, and with a real name, you can search for other non-porn work that they've done.
Example: In the 80's and 90's, Ashlyn Gere, whose real name is Kimberly Ashlyn McKarny, did a number of mainstream movies and guest spots on TV shows using different names, some of which were variations of her real name.
