i knnow its writers and ex heisman winners that vote but it should be the ex heisman winners and coaches. So sick of writers having the say so in heisman and all the hall of fames voting

on the surface that makes sense, but then i remember watching a show about the hypeman a few years back and they were interviewing some of the past winners. more than a few stated that when voting they first look to see who's from thier alma mater and vote for them outright. So, yeah, even former players are full of shit too. :(

I prefer the Maxwell anyway, far less hype. It's annoying to hear at week one who's in the lead for the hypeman. hell, i even hear comments now about how "enter sophomore or junior player name here) is a legitimate shot at next years heisman....wtf? we arent even done with this year and we alreay hear projections on next year's winner? sometimes espn just bugs the shit out of me.

After his performance Saturday, it's gotta be Ingram. McCoy was in the driver's seat and blew it as far as I am concerned.

Colt McCoy has not played well against his toughest competition(Oklahoma and Nebraska). I think that is was what makes you a Heisman Trophy winner.

McCoy has put up great numbers against very bad teams. You Might as well give it to Kellen Moore, he at least beat Oregon. :dunno:

Suh has been great before this year, he was just apart of a rebuilding year defensively for Nebraska. Thats probably why you haven't heard of him until this year. To be honest, it almost sounds like you turning this into a career achievement award?

I'm not exactly turning it into a career achievement award; I'm just saying that he did lead his team to an undefeated season, which even the mighty Tim Teabag couldn't do. However, I see your point about him choking against real challenges.

Toby Gerhart had the best year from Week 1 to Week 12.

I would not have a problem if Suh won it.

I might have a problem if Tebow or Ingram win it.

I also think this award should NOT be an annual award. If a player hasn't TRULY distinguished himself, than it shouldn't be awarded.

Do players even care about it anymore?

Pretty much exactly how I feel.

It can be legitimately argued that anyone of those deserves it..............except for Tebow.

Tebow's numbers are much worse than last year (he did not win it last year) and he played horrible the only time he played a good team.

*Remeber: The Heisman Trophy is an award given to "the most outstanding player in collegiate football". That's seriously what it says. :dunno:

So, who has been the most outstanding player? <cough>Suh<cough>

It needs to be changed to Best Offensive Player. Defensive players never win it.
Charles Woodson won it as a CB/WR/Punt Returner.

Otherwise, it all offensive players since 1962.

It's hard to analyze how a single defensive player impacts a game. I didn't see much of Suh but I have heard of him from previous years.

Suh might come close to winning it....

It would be best if they waited til after the Bowl Games to award the Heisman....a bowl game is usually the most important game a team plays in a given year....

It was pretty obvious how he impacted the Texas game. McCoy was never able to find a rhythm, and Suh was double- and triple-teamed all night.

Yes and no. The fact that the team is playing in a bowl game is important, yes, but it's an additional game that 100+ other schools aren't playing. I think that the Heisman should be awarded at the end of the regular season. The Heisman is awarded to the best player of the season, not of the playoffs. :2 cents:

I heard on the radio that Suh just might win the Heisman.

I think it should be awarded after the bowl games too. Vince Young might have two Heismans, though Matt Leinart in 2004 was....:(

If that's the case they should just get rid of the Heisman altogether. Either they should elect the most truly deserving person that is the best player or they shouldn't have the award. The fact it has almost been all RBs and QBs that have won is a flaw with the award not a reason to keep mindlessly letting them win when there are better players.
