If they parked unreasonably close to your car and you made a reasonable effort to not cause damage (i.e. wait some amount of time for them to move their car, etc.) it's possible for a court to not hold you liable for the damage.

A judge could simply find that you exercised reasonable care to avoid damaging their car but they made the damage unavoidable by parking unreasonably close to you.

Well if something like that happens. 100% of the time someone dosent know how to park. they either parked crooked or to close to the line. That person is generally at fault.
