Who is your most overrated movie director?

^See I am going to have to disagree, especially on Big Fish. That is one of my all time favorite movies. But Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Planet of the Apes did suck. Batman Returns wasn't that bad to me, especially when comparing it to the Batmans that followed (not counting the Bale ones of course, those are awesome)

I knew someone would probably dispute Big Fish. It just wasn't my type of movie, but I rarely find Burton's style my type. The original Batman was good because he didn't go all out on the style of Gotham and the villian, which I think he did in Batman Returns. And I do enjoy many of Burton's movies, but they tend to be the darker ones like Sleepy Hollow and Sweeney Todd (At least most of it; after Alan Rickman died that movie went downhill). I particularily hare Nightmare Before Christmas because it has seemed to become a wierd fashion statement to have Jack Skellington plastered all over your purses and shirts up here now.

Actually Tim Burton didn't direct Nightmare Before Christmas, he just produced and co-wrote it. Now he did co-direct Corpse Bride.

Didn't know that, but it is always closely identified with him and his style is all over it. :dunno: Still don't like it.

Actually, if you were to ask me (which nobody would) I would say Clint Eastwood is in the running for coolest person to ever live.

Clint Eastwood just might be the coolest anything to ever anything.

Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese after 1995, Woody Allen after 2000, David Fincher, Jacques Rivette, Claude Sautet

edit* credits to JordanRules: Shyamalan!!! Almost forgot that dork.

Is there any director that isn't overrated? :dunno:

Seems like every major one has already been put into this category.

Personally, I take it on a film-by-film basis. There are films I like and there are films I don't. The person who yelled, "Action!" hardly ever influences my preference.

I respectfully disagree. I think Clint Eastwood is a great actor, who turned out to be a just as great a director, and Unforgiven is my favorite film directed by him

I don't know, I think Pope Urban II might have been the coolest person ever.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
As much as I love Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, I have to say Quentin Tarantino. The two I mentioned were his best films and they were made in the early 90s. Plus, he might be the worst actor in the history of man.

Couldn't agree more. I think he got into movies so he can act tough and cuss on screen.

Dario Argento.
Steven Spielberg.
George Lucas.
Michael Bay.
Quentin Tarantino.
