Who can help me??

A few years back, I saved a lot of pictures of my ex on my computer as a back-up file. I thought they were lost or erased until I stumbled upon them the other day. Only problem is, most of them are extremely small in size. Even if i try to enlarge them using different programs, they are very blurry. The original size was a lot bigger and crystal clear. Is there anyway I can get them back to its original size or at least get them to look clearer?? Any help is appreciated.
