Well, that's a pretty broad statement considering you're talking about an entire coast, but I can tell you right now, the Northeast really isn't very dreary at all.

Actually Maine is beautiful. I went there on my honeymoon...I have NEVER in my life meet more genuinely kind people. Every picture you see of Vermont...the ones with the barn that needs to be painted, and the field full of cows. That's how it looks. Now I've never been there in the winter, and I image they get a shit load of snow....but when I was there in early Sept., it was amazing.

The same could be said about any selection made about any part of the country. Whether one chose the Southeast, Southwest, the Heartland, etc. Every section has good parts and bad parts but that's not what the question asked. The question asked where would you least like to live.
