American isn't a type of ethnicity.

neither is white black and asian. those are races. ethnicity does usually refer to the nationality of your ancestors.

I am supposedly 1/16 indian (but so is every white person who's home is on wheels right?) But they were civilized slave owning indians. ironically the only slave owners that i know of in my family lol

So all of you guilty white people who want to say you are part indian you might want to look into that.
