Stories like these make me wonder if people truly care about anything.

Torture Death Shocks Ill. Town.
Banished to the basement, the 29-year-old mother with a childlike mind and another baby on the way had little more than a thin rug and a mattress to call her own on the chilly concrete floor.
Dorothy Dixon ate what she could forage from the refrigerator upstairs, where housemates used her for target practice with BBs, burned her with a glue gun and doused her with scalding liquid that peeled away her skin.

They torched what few clothes she had, so she walked around naked. They often pummeled her with an aluminum bat or metal handle.
Dixon—six months pregnant—died after weeks of abuse. Police have charged two adults, three teenagers and a 12-year-old boy with murder in the case that has repulsed many in this Mississippi River town.

New Rochelle Officer Charged With Raping Teen.

A New Rochelle police officer was arrested and charged with first-degree rape Wednesday morning, CBS 2 has learned.

Sgt. David Rodriguez was arraigned in New Rochelle City Court and suspended without pay by the department. The charge stems from an alleged incident on Feb. 9 while Rodriguez was off-duty.

Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to the charge. He would not comment to reporters.

Rodriguez is married to Darlene Rodriguez, an anchor for WNBC-TV. She walked into court aside her husband and was in tears outside the courtroom, but showed her support in a statement to reporters.

"I'm here to support my husband. I believe in him and I love him, and he's innocent 100 percent," she said.

200 surveillance cameras at Van Dyke houses fail to stop rape suspect.
Once again a rapist was caught on videotape, and once again cops failed to see him, police sources said Thursday.

A 19-year-old woman was raped at knifepoint inside the Van Dyke houses in Brooklyn early Thursday - a housing complex with more than 200 cameras supposedly monitored around the clock by the NYPD.

As to the second one, I read in either The Star-Ledger, The Daily News or The New York Post that the live in boyfriend of the girl was either 34 or 35. :eek:

I don't know what is wrong with this world as this world is full of sweet girls but no one is made for me... ... I don't know is it result of my previous life's sins that come in way of this life.....
And also; all girls love those who are betrayers not to those who are not only love them but also respect in all manners. Girls like only person who is Smart, Rich and his character don't matter for them... as a result most of the personal life of girls got exposed and girls need to suffer pain of such mistake in whole life... Rape case also took place in most of the cases when girls trust those persons who deserves nothing.
What if they adjust her life with little bit less money and more love....?? Small Home is better than Big structure of Bricks and Concrete...

This all is inspired form my own life... because the girl whom I loved more then my own life... don't accept me just because I am not as rich as to fulfill her dreams...

The biggest issues with the world today are ignorance and apathy, IMO. People not knowing, not caring, not recognizing problems, ignoring problems, not seeking help, giving up, etc.

That's not to say that those were non-issues in the past. We're just exceptionally ignorant and apathetic nowadays.

Who cares about people, when you can care about things? The majority don't see others as human beings, they see them as a means to get what they want.

The world is wide enough for everything it seems.
Still, I believe that even though morbid stuff occur and one thing exceed the other, the vast majority of the world consists of good things. It's simple probability that amongst 6 billion unique individuals there will be some unbelievable things going on.

And frankly I believe as time goes, less and less people are abused or ill-treated. That said, there will always be rotten apples and we can never eliminate evil. But I prefer to see all the nice things in life instead
