What's the best beer to cook with?

squallumz

knows petras secret: she farted.
depends on what ur making. guinness is great for darker meats and light pilsners and ales for poultry.

I find that either Heineken or Becks are quite good for cooking...

Schlitz Malt Liquor

I marinade with:

Shiner Bock
Newcastle
Dos Equis Amber

with sliced onion and thyme/rosemary/taragon.

after the brats go on the grill I reduce the remaining beer marinade with beef buillion and make gravy for the mashed potatoes

Good question! (interesting responses)

Hmm, the beer dilemma, see depends on what you want to do, I've used bud/miller/corona/ect/ect on damn near everything....

Corona for seafood, with a shot of tequila always works wonder, especially with lime and salt
Steaks, depends on what you are doing... marinade or on the grill pouring... Marinade, go with a hefe, especially (name your hefe here). For over the pour... go with bud or something like that, better to spill cheap beer in my opinion.
Chili... PBR, in a glass bottle, no can allowed (yes I know they sell glass)
Chicken, not really a master with this one, but I'd go with a keystone, might as well... something lighter for a lighter meat.... but definitely put it on a dry rub afterwards and bbq.

Hey Internet timed out i guess, and it double posted....

Thought of another chicken one.... how about a pilsner? Any takers?
