What's the best beer to cook with?

I've tried Killians, Amber Bock, and Michelob Honey Lager. All turned out fairly well, but the Honey Lager was the best.

I use Bud whenever I grill skirt steak on the grill. I will prep the meat overnight with seasoning, chopped long green onions and 2 cans of bud. Finger licking good.

Guinness does wonders, it's all I ever use.

They actually get simmered in the beer for extended lengths of time. I prefer to then finish them off on a charcoal grill, but straight out of the simmer is good. Add onions and a shot of some brutal hot sauce and it's good eatin'.

That's...interesting. I'd never do that. We here take the raw sausage, put it on a hot grill (charcoal or wood) and while it grills/barbecues/fries/... (whatever you may call it) you can drizzle or pour some beer over the sausage. Tastes even better with untreated steaks. Just salt, pepper and beer.
I'd prefer a strong pils (like Bitburger) or a stout/dark beer (like Köstritzer) to douse the food with.

If you got a nice, big, slender collar steak (pork chop from the neck), you could also make a (what we call) "Winzersteak". You need to marinade the steak in oil, garlic and onions and before putting them on the grill you salt and pepper. When on the grill just douse them carefully with a good white wine (preferably a Riesling).

that's why you get a sixer. one for the food, five for you. ;)

Yeah, and considering the fact that you're already eating a fat, greasy, grilled and alcoholically enhanced meal....in short: something very very bad for your health ;) .... I'd have no qualms about at least eating and drinking the good stuff and not on top of everything else the cheapest, unhealthiest, and sleaziest... :D

Ok, eat your alfalfa sprouts, do some yoga, and then go for jog. what do you want from me?

Wow. That does sound good. I seldom marinate steaks- I like the plain beef, but I'll try your version.:glugglug:

Ehm....I was actually agreeing with you. I don't eat very healthy myself. But I'm of the opinion that, if already eating unhealthy, I shouldn't eat the cheapest s**t. You know what I mean? A fat steak with beer and lot's of sauce and fries is not very healthy. Me personally, I don't care. But I would never buy the cheapest meat, the cheapest fries or the cheapest beer and shovel that into me, because I don't see a reason why I should make my meals even more unhealthy by eating something that probably has had the least quality control (if any) or a low standards production process.

So, he should buy the good, expensive stuff for cooking and drinking reasons.

Btw, I don't do yoga. And I don't like alfalfa sprouts either or do I look like a bunny to you? :D

Yeah, if you're going to eat it, go tenderloin, flat iron, or ribeye. There's also a cut where they cut the tenderloin longways instead of into filets, but I don't remember what it's called (well, I call it damn fine grub, but still).
