All those early Arnold movies everybody is listing take me back to a time when all it took to make a movie successful was to have a mindless action film with a big star and lots of explosions in it. There always seemed to be enough people that loved that stuff and would spend a lot of money to go and see it. Then came The Last Action Hero and it all seemed to change, like the need for a good plotline. They just don't make action movies or big name action stars like they used to.

At the end of the movie I think they made it ambiguous whether or not it was a dream all along with evidence in the movie that both supports and contradicts it.
