What's everyone favorite comic book movie?

It's good to be the king...
I found Fantastic Four a letdown (the creation of Dr. Doom was especially poor)....

because im a massive spidey fan, spiderman 1&2 are my favorites, with sin city a close 2nd, and batman begins at 3rd. but i like most of the newer films, i think they're doing a great job. even though some of the movies storylines are somewhat lackluster, the 1st movies are supposed to be an intro into a new franchise for all the characters, so im understanding of it.
ghost world was pretty good, and so was constantine. id like to see a preacher movie, it'd be hilarious.
by the way, i hated DD, but when kingpin got his knees kicked out, it was quite convincing and made the movie, for me at least.

American Splendor - great comic & great film.

Yeah, i know. Ben Affleck should be banned from ever appearing in another movie. The only movie i´ve seen where he´s doing even an acceptable performance is in Chasing Amy.

sincity taught us (and creators of all those hollywood stuff full of senseless action and expensive effects) what a "real" comic book movie is.. no other comic movie i can see nearing the quality of it..

Man I've been collecting Spiderman Comics Books for the past 10 years and i have like every issue from the past ten years and more...i buy them every Wednesday (thats the new comic book day here in Canada) and I love the stories in them...its no so much about Spiderman its about Peter Parer that makes the books so iteresting....

Sure was start life as a horror comic as om3ga shows above. Thanks m8 save me doing that.

No probs.

And I agree with the comments about DD. Affleck was just so wooden, started rooting for Bullseye & Kingpin....

[edit] One comic I would like to see as a movie - AMERICAN FLAGG!

I haven't seen Hellboy, Batman Begins or Fantastic Four.
Spiderman (1 and 2) were my favorites so far; Daredevil was nice; Hulk was a bit of a disappointment; Blade was awesome, my second favorite, I think, still need to see #2.

I recently saw Batman Begins and would have to say that's near the top of my list.

The original Batman would be my top choice but I DID NOT like Nicholson as the Joker. (I think Willem Defoe would be excellent in that part, but since he played The Green Goblin, I kind of doubt he would take on any other comic villian roles)

I think both Spiderman movies were very well done. And I actually kind of liked Daredevil. I don't think Affleck was the best choice, but he made it work...similar to Keaton in the original Batman movie.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the new Superman Returns movie. I think it has great potential. For that matter, the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve was great. Kind of a weak plot story (Lex Luthor setting of atomic bombs to increase the value of his real estate...LOL), but the first part of the movie that shows Kal-el's origins is very well done.

Lastly...I just want to say I would SOOO love it if at some point a film adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns was made!!!

Is that the Director's Cut of DD? There has been some compliments about this version (still think Affleck is poor, though).

i completely agree, and thats what makes the movies so interesting, too.

Blade 1, Spidey 1 & 2, X-Men 1 & 2, Batman Begins, and Superman 2 (yes, I'm old enough to remember it). There's a new one coming next summer.

Comic books and video games transfer to the big screen quite well. The best ones dont take themselves too seriously. My only beef is that often inferior sequels are created, strickly to capitalize on the success of the original.

I think comics and games can make great serious movies too, it just depends on the source material. The problem I see is Hollywood has a bunch of non-gamers trying to capitalize on top-selling games which happen to have no stories. Anyone remember the movies Double Dragon or Super Mario Bros.? Mortal Kombat 1, Resident Evil, and Doom are marginally entertaining considering how little source material they had to work with.

There are games with far better stories than most Hollywood scripts. I'd love to see somebody base a movie on Deus Ex, Thief, or Baldur's Gate. I thought KOTOR was far better than the modern Star Wars.

:2 cents:
