What was your favorite video game era?

Years, generations, systems, etc.

I have to say the PS1 era of gaming was great. It was the height of video games. A wide array of genres, quality, and so much more. Sure looking back at it now the games may or may not have passed the test of time; however, at the time, they were awesome and provided thousands of hours of entertainment. Not to mention just awesome memories of good times.

What is your favorite era?

Special Operations FOX-HOUND
My favourite era was and still is the 1990's I remember playing FF7, FF8, FF9, MGS1, Kula World, RE1, RE2, Oddworld, The Legend of Dragoon etc for hours, the graphics might not have been as good as it is now, but the quality of gameplay was much better back then, the movie like quality of MGS, the quality of FF7.

Call me a Playstation fanboy if you like, I don't care.

I don't think PlayStation fanboy at that time was bad thing. That system owned the market. N64 came out and it provided quality too. It was awesome seeing them going at it and everybody enjoyed it equally if you put the silly brand thing aside.

Then you had the DreamCast.... hehe

The Dreamcast had a few good games, not that I've played them myself, except Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which was ported to PS2.

I enjoyed the 1970s. No stupid-assed Mario. No jerk off Fighting games. No Pac-Man or his lesbian sister. Nope. Just walls of cool pinball machines, air hockey, foosball, and other non-wussie games like that.

I'll go with the NES days and maybe early Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo days. Not only were games harder, but you could take pride in beating them. I could brag to my friends in the school yard that I just beat Mike Tysons Punch Out. (I don't care if you don't believe me. I did) Games don't have that mystique anymore.

Also, at the same time the early consoles started becoming popular, arcade games and pinball were the shit too. There was always that one guy who was a legend at the mall/pool hall/arcade, kicking everybody's ass with his unreachable high scores :(

Those were the days.

what the fuck you lookin at?
The 1980's with the NES. Gaming was pure back then, now it's nothing but fanboys.

True. Video games were becoming a household phenomenon by then. The NES really marked the beginning of what was to become a multibillion dollar industry.

Back then, you either beat the game in one sitting or you had to start from the very beginning the next time you turned on your system. I went through so many controllers its ridiculous. Now when I get fed up, I just save and walk away.

I will never sell my Super Nintendo. Anything else, if I need the money badly enough, I will sell it in a heartbeat. Just stay away from my Super Nintendo.

Xbox 1 era, especially the very beginning of Xbox Live. There were a lot more cool people playing back then and a lot less idiotic kids.

Playstation 1 era. Final Fantasy VII, VII, & IX, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3, as well as old school FIFA and NBA live.

The super nintendo/genesis era had some intense competition and spawned some great games, but I also liked the PS2 when they got 3d gaming right, the PS1 had great games and all but most of the games were kinda akward due to the beginning of 3d graphics.

My first contact was NES, but I mostly enjoyed the Game Boy era: Zelda, Wario, Pokemon, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Land, Harvest Moon....everything
I even had this camera thing with the printer :glugglug:

Super NES, that best thing at the time...even though they censored Mortal Kombat, they didn't MK2

Thats when I switched to Sega Genesis. Nintendo was fun with the NES and super NES, but then better consoles came out.

I must say the PS2 era with all the hype and its hard-to-get status. I was never into games heavily until the PS2 came out with the largest menu on any gaming history plus the added bonus of a DVD player (before they discovered its flaws on it). It's backward compatible for the PS1 and 3D gaming was just right. :D

I liked the PS2/XBOX/GameCube era, I remember the rivalries between the companies and I got my PS2 for Christmas in 2002. The games I got were Ratchet & Clank as well as Madden NFL 2003. I also enjoyed my sister's GameCube.
