Ok..I have this weird smell in my apartment. I don't think it's a dead ****** of some sort, considering we don't have pets, and I moved everything moveable to check and see if a mouse died somewhere. What I think is that the basement (directly below my apartment) is so awful, that it's causing my apartment to stink. My boyfriend went down there once, just to check it out, and said it was the worst basement he'd ever been in - mold, water, insects of every variety, and possibly dog crap and dead things, judging from the smell. I theorize that since it's been in the '90s for days now, whatever is growing in the basement is coming up through cracks in the bathroom and making the smell, because it only seems to be coming from there.
So, what should I do? Do I call the city code inspector and have him/her inspect the property? At this point I'm sick of dealing with my stupid landlord - he never does anything to the property. I'm getting worried because I think the basement and the property in general could be considered a health hazard - we have uncontrollable black mold problems in the bathroom too. So yeah, I have no idea what to do - even if the landlord fixes the basement, I think we're going to move out as soon as we get enough money together for a deposit. We've had ant problems, mold problems, and now this crap.
