Beans have never given me gas. I think my karma just ran over your dogma. Sorry about that.

One of the underappreciated joys in life is ripping a good fart. I take full credit never trying to blame it on the dogma. I consider myself blessed. I enjoy black bean soup so much I also consider it a beverage. Tonight at dinner I drank my soup so fast I choked a bit and accidentally sneezed black beans all over my family. This was the biggest embarassment I suffered all week.

I actually meant dogma as in "a settled or established opinion, belief, or principle" -- that is, the common notion that eating beans results in flatulence. That doesn't seem to be true for me most of the time, perhaps because beans are a usual staple of my diet. Or perhaps it really is karma.

That said, eating cheese, yogurt, and other fermented dairy products sometimes does give me gas. And speaking of cheese, that's one protein source I neglected to mention. I love cheese, and happily don't gain weight from eating it often (perhaps because I offset that with exercise).
