What kind of camera is used to shoot porn?

It probably varies with the photographer/cameraman. :hatsoff:

I know Digital Playground has started using the new Red One 4k camera for all their HD filming. I would imagine other adult feature film studios that produce HD content have started using them extensively as well.

Now thats the new version and I can say with all honestly that it is fantastic, I have one at home and its very lightweight and easy to get into angles that others just wont get into if you know what I mean ;)

Heres a picture of it:

BlueBalls!! Thought with you being actually HAL 9000, you could get away with using your usual computer/human interface camera. I've seen the film. I know you can read lips, so I'm sure you have no problems reading a girls pussy lips.

All different types. But, usually the ones with a lens. That's for sure. ;)

The camera and lighting on Amateur Allure if turned down just a little would be the best around.

It would be nice if he would make the videos a bit longer and do much more than blowjobs.

I'm sure that they use digital, which is fine since it's direct to DVD release anyway.

I'm surprised that anyone in Hollywood even uses film anymore. There are still a few movie makers that actually care how their shots look. But then I guess that since most movies are entirely CG other than the actors, it really doesn't matter, does it?

I have no idea what make and model equipment is used to produce porn. I'm pretty sure it will vary from company to company. Maybe someone like Mr. IBangPornstars or some of female talent here on FO's can chime in.

I'm sure they use a variety of types, but what’s equally important is that the people operating it know how to use it to it's potential. A person that's good never justs points and shoots.

We've got quite a few photographers and producers wandering around, I'm sure one of them will be by shortly to answer your question. :)

Petra pointed this thread to me! Thanks!

There's not "one specific" brand used - but for the most part, still photos are typically shot with Canon or Nikon. I use Canon, but obviously (and even as mentioned in a previous post), that is a personal preference.

Generally, as far as video, I see mostly Sony used...but certainly there are other brands used...and as far as models...there are SO many video camera models, you could not "single out" just one. Primarily Mini DV format is used (that's what I use), but for HD shoots the Mini HD DV format is used.

Some "high dollar" equipment is used, but for the most part, that isn't really "necessary", even for making DVD's - especially with "gonzo/POV style" shoots, like I do. It' all depends on what the producers are going for...clearly a film like PIRATES and PIRATES II by Digital Playground requires a LOT more equipment than gonzo / POV shoots!

When I have been hired as an extra on shoots for Brazzers, for example, they essentially use the same still camera type as I do - and I've seen about 5 different video cameras used, again - probably based on the preference of the "man behind the camera"!

Hope that gives you some insight...

Very good post. I currently use the Canon A1 before that I was using the Sony VX2100 which is a great DV cam in lowlight situations even though its an older model compared to all the great cams released over the last few years.
