Latest film that blew my away was "Mulholland Drive" by David Lynch.
its a film from 2001, and goes far beyond the surface, unlike other typical hollywood productions where you can foresee what will be happening. unlike any boring action movie that might attract once with a lot of fire and boom boom, but seriously, no ones gonna talk about such movies again somewhere in time after having seen it.
i like david lynchs movies and quentin tarantinos movies, because theyre like riddles and unexpected things happen. in some form theyre philosophical, since you can discuss and talk about it when the film is over.
