What is the best car of the 80's?

Kingfisher

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
I drove a Dodge Spirit (I think that's what it was called) Had a turbocharged 4, built by Lotus and excellent suspension also by them. 4 door plain jane small sedan with a surprise under the hood.

I love Camaros or Magnum PI car it was a Ferrari something I can't remember :(

It was a Ferrari 308 GTS. Really not one of their best cars, but it was the first not to have 12 cylinders (3 liter V8) and have a Ferrari name tag. The better earlier 246 GT was officially called a Dino.

some kind of datsun

I was about to settle on the Ferrari 512 BB or the 512TR, but the above replies made me rethink this. The Porsche 959, the Grand National/GNX... and the amazing March 84C.

And Alisa, I was also a BIG fan of the little Ferrari 308 GTS. They wanted a Porsche for the show, but Porsche was reportedly kind of hard to work with. And the Ferrari people actually gave them a car to work with (that Selleck's head could clear). I've read that the car being featured on Magnum P.I. did more for Ferrari sales than anything other than its involvement in F1 (which wasn't going so well back in those days).

Great thread topic. Great replies! I miss the 80's...

the grand national was one of the first ones i thought about when reading the thread title. 1987 grand national by McLaren/ASC. 275 hp, 360 lb-ft (488 N·m) of torque. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds all right out of the box with no tweaking. probably the best american muscle car of the 80's simply because it needed no extras. sticker price then was around 12k. damn, give me them 80's prices please!!!

but i was just a toddler back then. my 80's car experience was in a child's seat in my moms SAAB 900. i don't recall much and i'm pretty certain mom never peeled out or anything. whether that was due to the limitation of the car or mom's limited rebelliousness is a matter of debate.

The GNX was faster (fastest production '87) and the H/P was unrated.

I agree about Magnum's Ferrari. I also like the Ferrari that was used (briefly) in "Romancing the Stone," and James Bond's Lotus in "For Your Eyes Only" are also 80s exoticacar eyecandy....

For me, the one from the 80s I want is this...
1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible

The General Lee!!! Nope, I'm no southern man, but you can't deny the General's badassedness! Yes...I said BADASSEDNESS! Besides it never whined like that effete K.U.N.T. Oops..I meant K.I.T.T.

Lancia Delta Integrale S4
Good 'ol Group B!

I really like the Porsche 959 (first AWD car) & Ferrari Testarossa (remember, 512TR wasn't 'til '91) also, with the latter being my favorite of the 2.
