Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Sony Platstation Portable. Sony Playstation 3.

I bought a Microsoft Xbox 360 when I first moved here a couple years ago, but I quickly get rid of it because America only has war games.

Altogether I have:

My systems that retired with grace:
Atari

Genesis
PSOne
Game Gear
VR something. Remember that one, anyone? Where the game showed up as red and all that?
I feel like I am forgetting something in this list

Systems that retired disgracefully:
PlayStation (The original big system that first came out; it went out)

Systems currently in use:
PS2
Xbox
GameCube
Xbox360
PC

I still fucking hate Microsoft and Sony ...

For not putting a fucking mouse on the console.

We've regressed over the last 12 years of first person shooters (FPS). We've gone from localized damage, limited health and smart enemies to singularity damage, unrealistic health and dumb enemies. All because MS and Sony didn't put a fucking mouse on their consoles.

I wouldn't own a PC for gaming (sans what runs natively under Linux, which is all I use on a PC, and have since 1998 virtually 100% of the time) if consoles could actually advance FPS gaming, instead of dragging it back to the age of original Doom.

wow. What is your problem? FPS will never go the way your talking about, no money in it I guess. But you know there are other games on consoles besides FPS. Also one good thing about consoles is you don't have to buy upgrades for em every year to run the latest games, unlike on a PC.

Missing my point, I want consoles to totally replace PCs for gaming ...

wow. What is your problem?
The FPS genre has regressed. It is extremely more difficult to control look with the right analog stick than a mouse. That's why they've started removing localized/critical damage, etc... Although some game developers have come up with some "creative" ways to deal with it (like VATS in Fallout 3, after Elder Scrolls 4 regressed from localized in ES 3), it doesn't work for multiplayer.

FPS will never go the way your talking about, no money in it I guess.
Huh? For the past 12 years on the PC, the FPS has constantly improved with more localized damage, a greater focus on accuracy, etc... -- things real, on-line players want. Why can't the freak'n consoles mirror that?

Now Microsoft and Sony say they won't add mouse support because it would be 'unfair' to those that don't use the mouse. If you add the mouse for everyone, then everyone has the option to use the mouse. They've basically stated, with that very attitude, "oh, the mouse is just grossly more accurate."

Well, duh, that's what we've been saying!

But you know there are other games on consoles besides FPS.
Okay, let's talk RTS then. Panning and controlling units is a pain without a mouse as well. Basically anytime a mouse would be vastly superior, one runs into it repeatedly.

Also one good thing about consoles is you don't have to buy upgrades for em every year to run the latest games, unlike on a PC.
My argument is not Console v. PC. My arguement is that console should replace the PC, for virtually everything.

So I agree, I hate having to maintain a PC (let alone self-destructive Windows), and would rather just use a console. I don't need the ultimate in the latest graphics (the ICs in consoles are cheaper per unit because of the sheer volume over time, more than a magnitude -- plus no x86 compatibility requirements), and consoles due just great. Unfortunately, they forgot the mouse, so we get fucked with sub-standard input for FPS, RTS, etc...

Now they won't add it because it would be "unfair." Again, why didn't they add it in the first place? Why would it be "unfair" if it's an option for anyone? I mean, controllers are $25-50, so there's really no "added cost" for a keypad + mouse, eh?

That was my point. ;)
