Every politician on earth claims to support freedom. The problem is so few of them understand the simple meaning of the word.

For me it means that I can live in a country where I can work whatever job I want and make as much ca$h as possible, get a bj from a girl that doesn't have to worry about getting her clit cut off by radical fundamentalists or religious fanatacism, and enjoy such fine web services that feed my porn-wants such as FreeOnes...........Thread Closed.....

To quote Thomas Jefferson...
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

http://freedomkeys.com/vigil.htm

Example: "Free as a bird" -ok- watch a bird try to eat or drink, always looking over the shoulder - never relaxing or resting lest it be killed.

To be free means kill or be killed - and if one is tired of looking out for oneself in this manner, then one usually lets the State take over. "One" being any given society... :2 cents:

I am glad to say that Dr. Ron Thoreau has only a few weeks left on the campaign trail before he is free to go back to his shack in the forests of Concord. :wave2:

Freedom : the willingness to accept personal r e s p o n s i b i l i t y.

This, in and of itself is too much responsibility for some

therefore freedom isn't.

Weird huh ? ;)

There is no such thing as freedom. We are always governed by rules no matter where you are. Even alone on a desert island your still governed by rules. As you have rules to live, so you can't do what you please as you please ever.

So what is freedom but a word we all like to believe is real but isn't sadly.

I think Dennis Leary put it best in "Demolition Man":

"I'm the enemy because I like to think. I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I'm the kind of guy that could sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs or the side order of gravy fries? I want high cholesterol. I would eat bacon and butter and buckets of cheese. Okay? I want to smoke Cuban cigars the size of Cincinnati in the nonsmoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-O all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I might suddenly feel the need to. Okay, pal?"

Freedom is a joke.

Just passing through Nashville Airport, they (TSA) took my hair spray on December 4, 2007.

When I board the plane at Kansas City, they (TSA) took my gf's skin lotion, my Coke, my drink (water bottle) on November 1, 2006.

I felt so sorry for the handicapped lady sitting on a wheelchair in front of me at Buffalo Airport, she is almosts 76 years old, and had to stand up and be searched.

We have to strip down, take our shoes off, our jackets off, our belts off and go into the chamber (in some airport) and check for bomb fragments.

Is this America we are living in ?

I think I will move to Canada and stay there.

(I can't carry lotion in any airport in United States, TSA will confiscate my lotion. So do we have freedom when we can not even bring a bottle water to the plane at any airport from San Franscisco to Buffalo, New York.)

I'll be honest - when I pass thru an airport and have to kick off my shoes/take off my belt or not carry on certain items (that are listed on many airline websites) it is no problem for me. It is as close to a guarantee that there will be no problems on the flight that I am about to take.

I'll gladly put up with a minor inconvenience that will help keep the flight as safe as possible.

Just my .02.

Not to mention a commercial plane is a piece of private property, and nobody is forced to travel by air.
