Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the shooting of The adventures of Buttman. With this film Stagliano invented a new way of making hardcore films, which was what the industry needed to not die of boredom. Soon, to this way of shooting movies X it was called "gonzo" (tribute to Hunter S.Thompson)
The gonzo that invented Stagliano was a brilliant resource to provide realism to adult movies. Entering the camera as a character, the viewer could feel identified with an element of the plot, as if was immersed in it. The early film of the series "Buttman" are faithful to this new perspective, since they present a guy who does not always gets "pick up", as in real life, and when he does, never leaves the viewpoint chosen to narrate it.
Over the years, the gonzo came to define all those porn movies shot in a careless manner, without prior planning and a video camera as the only tecnical support. The term was degraded so much so that any film without a plot and where sex scenes strung without any relationship between them, acquired the epithet. And what is even worse, served as an excuse so that anyone could taking a camera and shoot a porno video though he had no idea how to use it and, of course, would have been remotely close to a film school. Quality varies a lot. There are few great-looking films but many more are mediocre ones.
