About Jukka, we were lucky enough they found Kai who's a great drummer to replace him.
Replacing Marco will be pretty much impossible. The band hired Jukka Koskinen from Wintersun to fill in on bass for the next gigs but since Jukka's already in Wintersun this will most likely be a temporary solution. Anyway's Jukka's quite a good bassist but he's no singer. the band said they will go with Floor and Troy on vocals and that some song that would need Marco would just be kept out of the set-lists.
I completely agree with you about that. Obviously Floor & Troy will handle the vocals for the moment, and I know Troy will be able to fill in for some of Markos songs like The Islander and While Your Lips Are Still Red, but they must be thinking about the songs that Marko had a very prominent part in and maybe how to perform them on tour again.
Maybe they will ask Wilska back again from their early albums? just a thought!
I don't know how long you've been following them but I myself have been a fan of them since 1999 and I can tell you that the hiring of Marco is prbably the most important thing that happened to them since their creation (maybe even more important that Tarja's departure) and I'm quite concerned about the future of the band wihout him 'cause he was very important on stage and even more important backstage both in the creating process and the band's dynamic...
I have been following them since 2001 myself, a few years before they properly exploded into the UK and the rest of the world and agree he was one of the key factors that Nightwish has done so well.
I am glad that Tuomas has continued with the band as after Marko left he was almost adamant that the band would fold, but looking at their resolve and how they go about their musical process and how strong all the band members and "family" are, I am pretty sure they will continue for a few more years at least. There is still good band energy there, and they all have a good ethos!
In my honest opinion, I think Troy has been a key player this time around. He is quite a unique and understanding and experienced musician from what I've seen in interviews with him. He has been on the music scene a lot longer than the rest of them have been.
I first knew of Troy Donockley in the early 90s with a band called
Iona (A British progressive Celtic rock band)
, before Nighwish's time
, and was pretty happy when I knew he was working with Nightwish, and even more so when he joined them permanently
