It's one of two things (or both things) and that is the fire has long since died in the band. Then there's the money and fame which could have made the band lazy and their egos boosted beyond that which any mortal man can handle without going all snobby when it comes to their roots.

It's hard to listen to their new stuff knowing how just how damn good they really were. They still put on a decent live show. I saw them at the Toyota Center in Houston in 2004 and they only played one song that would have been considered "new". Good times are not forgotten.
