I hate Halloween as much as every other human festivals like carnival.
So: no plans and no plans on changing that
Why do you hate it?
I don't care all that much for dressing up, if I'm honest. It's nice to look back on the photos and think "I look great" in retrospect, but the realities of actually making a costume that looks anywhere near decent and wearing it to any kind of social function have always involved, for me, spending money on stuff I'll never wear again, and spending the evening with garb on or accessories that might complete the look but get in the way. A hat that makes my head overheat and hair messy, sunglasses that stop me seeing well and steam up, a fake 'tache that makes it hard to drink and then keeps coming off when the adhesive gets damp. Plus inherently it makes people look at you, and unless I'm rather tipsy, I'm introverted and prefer to just drink and chat rather than strut around wanting people to look at my great costume. Plus, it's rubbish for my already-low self-esteem because there's always a dozen people that look a million miles better, especially when they've picked the same costume. Sorry if this makes me sound a sadsack, but my idea of fun usually just involves friends, decent music, pub games or a dancefloor, and drinking. I don't go for gimmicks, and I'm not fond of my fun requiring too much prep.
My best mate was thinking of having a fancy dress party round his house, I told him to tell everyone else I've come as The Invisible Man. If I do go out next weekend I might head up to Manchester to get smashed, but it will be more because my former flatmate's birthday is the 5th, rather than Halloween.
Nah, that's ok, totally understandable. It's not for everyone. Personally I love it cuz I like getting dolled up, but that's just me, and I think it's easier for women than men to find a good costume. My biggest problem with dressing up and going out is wearing heels. I absolutely suck at walking in heels, I can't take anything more than baby steps with looking like I have a stick up my ass. It's awful.
Has the gay Halloween parade marched yet in the village? Don't miss it.
Last night was awesome. My buddy is a total Halloween maniac. Last night was his party. Spooky shit from the front door 2 flights up in the hallway to his apartment. Sounds and animations all the way up. Don't come to the party without a costume. If you do he will have one for you. This year I was Uncle Sam. Last year Red Riding hood. Both supplied by him from his box of costumes. At times people would come and get assaulted by the girls with a bunch of makeup ready. I sware to God he spends more on Halloween decorations then most people do on Christmas.
This year he was the evil magician. After a few tricks he had a ring trick. The ring trick was a proposal of marriage to his woman. Down on his knee with the box opened. I nearly cried. He is my best Bud and his woman is just so precious. It was a gift to be there to share this with them.
Aww that is so cute! I Don't even know the guy and I wish I could've seen it. And the party sounds like a lot of fun.
The parade is on Halloween night from 6:30-8:30, officially starting at 7:30 I think, at least that's what the website says. I would love to go but it looks like I have no one to go with. I only know one other person besides my boyfriend who lives around here, and I texted him last week and never got a response. I dunno, maybe he's upset with me for something, who knows. I'd really, really love to go. Hmm... maybe you could take me! :shy: Nah just kidding, I'm not so sure about meeting up with someone from online. I've done it a few times before but the circumstances were different, it was always more about dates in the past.
