What are you doing for Halloween?

I hate Halloween as much as every other human festivals like carnival.
So: no plans and no plans on changing that

Why do you hate it?

I don't care all that much for dressing up, if I'm honest. It's nice to look back on the photos and think "I look great" in retrospect, but the realities of actually making a costume that looks anywhere near decent and wearing it to any kind of social function have always involved, for me, spending money on stuff I'll never wear again, and spending the evening with garb on or accessories that might complete the look but get in the way. A hat that makes my head overheat and hair messy, sunglasses that stop me seeing well and steam up, a fake 'tache that makes it hard to drink and then keeps coming off when the adhesive gets damp. Plus inherently it makes people look at you, and unless I'm rather tipsy, I'm introverted and prefer to just drink and chat rather than strut around wanting people to look at my great costume. Plus, it's rubbish for my already-low self-esteem because there's always a dozen people that look a million miles better, especially when they've picked the same costume. Sorry if this makes me sound a sadsack, but my idea of fun usually just involves friends, decent music, pub games or a dancefloor, and drinking. I don't go for gimmicks, and I'm not fond of my fun requiring too much prep.

My best mate was thinking of having a fancy dress party round his house, I told him to tell everyone else I've come as The Invisible Man. If I do go out next weekend I might head up to Manchester to get smashed, but it will be more because my former flatmate's birthday is the 5th, rather than Halloween.

Nah, that's ok, totally understandable. It's not for everyone. Personally I love it cuz I like getting dolled up, but that's just me, and I think it's easier for women than men to find a good costume. My biggest problem with dressing up and going out is wearing heels. I absolutely suck at walking in heels, I can't take anything more than baby steps with looking like I have a stick up my ass. It's awful.

Has the gay Halloween parade marched yet in the village? Don't miss it.

Last night was awesome. My buddy is a total Halloween maniac. Last night was his party. Spooky shit from the front door 2 flights up in the hallway to his apartment. Sounds and animations all the way up. Don't come to the party without a costume. If you do he will have one for you. This year I was Uncle Sam. Last year Red Riding hood. Both supplied by him from his box of costumes. At times people would come and get assaulted by the girls with a bunch of makeup ready. I sware to God he spends more on Halloween decorations then most people do on Christmas.

This year he was the evil magician. After a few tricks he had a ring trick. The ring trick was a proposal of marriage to his woman. Down on his knee with the box opened. I nearly cried. He is my best Bud and his woman is just so precious. It was a gift to be there to share this with them.

Aww that is so cute! I Don't even know the guy and I wish I could've seen it. And the party sounds like a lot of fun.

The parade is on Halloween night from 6:30-8:30, officially starting at 7:30 I think, at least that's what the website says. I would love to go but it looks like I have no one to go with. I only know one other person besides my boyfriend who lives around here, and I texted him last week and never got a response. I dunno, maybe he's upset with me for something, who knows. I'd really, really love to go. Hmm... maybe you could take me! :shy: Nah just kidding, I'm not so sure about meeting up with someone from online. I've done it a few times before but the circumstances were different, it was always more about dates in the past.

Yeah I saw your thread about horror movie suggestions. I might end up doing that myself, but there's so few horror movies that I either haven't seen or don't interest me. Pretty sure I could only handle slasher type horror movies by myself, ghost movies scare me too much at night. I end up completely wrapping myself up in blankets, including my head, and making sure my feet don't hang off the bed.

You could always join me, I'll keep you safe from the monsters, ghosts and killers ;)

How weird, the one and only time I wore them in my uninhibited youth, I found it came quite natural to me.

No, I wasn't always boring. I dressed up as Batman as recently as 2005 (for charity), but that was a hired costume that amounted to little more than a onesie. Unfortunately I didn't realize until halfway through the night how little it left to the imagination, and the outline of the Batpenis was pretty obvious. Supergirl found it hilarious.

Batpenis? Now this I'd like to see.

I was under the impression that you have issues with demon possession too.

I do. Same genre. Anything to do with ghosts, demons, spirits, poltergeists, possessions, anything of the sort. It's all freaky.

There is something off putting about things that aren't corporeal.

Hah! I'd love to say "I'll look through the photos and if there are any where it stands out, I'll post them." But I know damn well there are, but I can't see myself posting them.

It was truly a remarkable evening between Batman, Catwoman, Supergirl... and a big chicken. Catwoman and the chicken were a couple. A few weeks later I got Catwoman really drunk and she confessed that on the night, he left the chicken head on during sex. What a horrific image that left me with.

Oh that sounds fun! I remember a house like that when I was a kid. This guy had his whole yard decked out with tables full of candy, spiderwebs all over the bushes, lots of decorations, and did some of those cheesy little things like the bowl with a hand in it that moves when you reach in.

yeah, we are the place to go to around here. we got it all, lights, fog, decorations, the whole 9. the sad truth is that the holiday is just about dead. its total bullshit too, but its on its last legs.

and this is progress?

i'll keep brining the fun and hope people pull their heads out of their asses and let their kids trick or treat. its been worse and worse every year. took a few good drives around the neighborhood and i can count on one hand how many people actually decorated. bunch of dickwads.

Although Halloween isn't traditionally celebrated here in Australia, it seems to be gathering some steam here in recent years. Not so much the trick and treating, although some kids do do it, more theme nights, parties and the like. I went to one such night this past Saturday, a smaller music festival where everyone dresses up, including the bands. Everyone seemed to have a great fun time, including myself, even though I went alone. I'm not much good at meeting people either, but I try to not let it me stop from doing things I enjoy. Like live bands and dressing up :) I'll also be going to a bar on Halloween night and meeting some others, I'll be going as Borat :p I like any excuse to dress up and getting into character, basically because it means I don't have to be me for awhile. It's escapism at its finest hahaha

Then I'll keep you safe from ghosts.

Aw come on. I'll show you mine if you show me yours ;)

That chicken costume guy makes me think of Family Guy.

Why aren't kids being allowed to trick or treat? That's such a fun time for kids, and trick or treating made some of my best memories from childhood. Well, aside from the time my siblings and cousins scared me in a graveyard.

A festival sounds awesome, wish I could take part in that. Props to you for going alone! I considered going out to a bar for Halloween by myself, but that's probably not the best idea considering I can't even go to the grocery store on regular days by myself without a bunch of guys cat calling and muttering creepy things under their breath at me. I can only imagine what me dressed up as a sexy cop alone at a bar would be like.

I shall drink lots of wine and let the children take all of my candy.

Mind if I join you?

Got any fun plans? Attending a party, handing out candy to the trick or treaters, staying in and watching horror movies, sitting in a chair by the window to peep at all the hot girls walking by in their sexy costumes?

I feel like such a loser this year. No plans whatsoever. Which is sad seeing as this is my first year in NY and it's supposed to be super exciting and fun here, but nah. Home alone, no plans.

I have plans.......plans not to do anything, ha. Used to pass out candy but it's all changed. Halloween isn't like it used to be. And i'm older and lazy so.....................by the way, if I wanted to look at hot girls, I would just go on your website ! You do make me feel younger ha.

I'll probably pass out some candy to the 6-7 kids that live in my neighborhood... and that's a big if. More than likely I'll probably leave some candy in the Jack-o-lantern and go out to eat somewhere really nice.

Totally go out to eat somewhere nice. Why let the kids have all the fun?

At this point, I'll probably be doing homework. Curse my professors for giving me assignments over the holiday!
