You know what else causes depression and suicidal thoughts?

Everything.

Having had a rather crappy childhood, science fiction and fantasy books really helped me cope and gave me hope for the future. Now that I have grown and fully realize that none of those things will happen in my lifetime (spaceflight, colonizing other planets) it does kind of bring me down.

Spending ten hours a day at a desk making money for some guy I hate who treats me like crap just to pay off bills and a mortgage is a bitter pill. That's if you're 'lucky' enough to have a job.

If I had known that as a kid... that would have really sucked.

Yeah, what you said in a nut shell. Life literally is a living hell for a lot of people right now, no lie.

My parents worked 30+ years each only to recently see 50% of their 401K disapear. Bloody bullocks! :crash: Thanks Alan Greenspan!

work 30+ years just to retire at 60 (maybe) only to find out you have cancer, are physically limited, have lost a number of loved ones around you, have seen 50%+ of your 401K disapear, only to get hit by a friggin car when you walk out the door? Is it really worth it? :dunno:
