Video games with excellent storyline

The first KotOR had a good story and the second one did also if you don't count the ending. The metal gear games are good. Final Fantasy 7 was ok, and I thought that Chrono Trigger was pretty good also. I could still play that game today with the crappy graphics and all and have fun with it. My all time favorite is Xenogears, even if it had flaws with the stuff on the second disk being rushed it was pretty good. Xenosaga had the potential to be up there if they would have went through and made all six episodes instead of cutting it short and butchering parts of the story to give it more action and explosions instead of thoughtful material.

totally agree with you mate. anther RPG fanatic here! Old school RPGs though not graphically intense hold some of the greatest gaming scripts up to now. The immersion of the game comes from the story itself not on some eye candy ui/cgis. In addition to the mentioned games, il probably recommend mass effect also. great story ( for first time players), though somewhat liner and great graphics.

Hell yeah Metal Gear Solid has a sweet story. There are a few corny parts, but overall just freakin sweet.

It should be an RPG if you'd ask me... of which I think some of the Final Fantasy games have the best story line. But MGS has a great (and sometimes too far fetched) story line too, within a genre filled with games without any.

Freelancer has an excellent storyline, albeit a bit dull when you complete the game.
