USA Soccer

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
USA population = 307,000,000
Mexico population = 107,000,000

How are we (the USofA) so damn shitty when we have 200,000,000 million more potential soccer players than Mexico?

very good point! :1orglaugh

It seems to be going like the Afghan war, all guns blazing at the beginning with resounding success then they get comfortable and complacent and allow the enemy back in. Dos Santos plays for my team Tottenham but our manager hates him and constantly loans him out, I'd like to see him get another chance next season.

He's kinda like Miroslav Klose. For whatever reason, he performs better for country than club. And Racing apparently wanted to sign him permanently, but the coach left for Sevilla, so that's now unlikely. I really think he could help Spurs though.

Btw that goal was ridiculous.

Ugh, couldn't even watch the fucking game because apparently I don't subscribe to whatever Fox Sports channel it was on. Fuck you, DirecTV.

I watched the IndyCar race instead. Helluva win for Marco. That was some pretty damn good racing tonight.

You coulda watched it on Univision.

Bloody -- when you can't find good soccer on the tube -- go to the boards over at BigSoccer and someone will post a useable linky to watch action at.

I have FSCHD and the game was a piece of shit for the U.S. Our defense is old and slow and Mexico just ripped our D to shreds. Mexico's D sucked but we just couldn't keep the ball long enough to get back in the game in the second half.

Steve Cherundalo is the only American D who can play against Mexico's first team attack. He got injured and that pretty much ended the game. Mexico was running wild after he left. Gooch's knee injury last year pretty much ended his career for the U.S. Stuart Holden is a great player for us (he plays for Bolton in England) but we didn't have him available due to long-term leg recovery.

Landycakes had a nice goal but went mysto in the second half. I think Dempsey got frustrated with trying to be the setup guy instead of the finisher. Freddy Adu actually looks like a good winger for us. He has speed and isn't afraid to take defenders 1 v 1 but he loses the ball too easily.

In short, we have to completely rebuild the Defense. Carlos Bocanegra, Jonathan Bornstein, Ricardo Clark---these players had great careers but they shouldn't be in the U.S. rotation anymore.

We need a completely new defense. The formula is simple -- speedy defenders on the wings and Size and Muscle in the middle. We have neither anymore.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Donovan is more hype now than talent. How much water did he drink during the game? I don't think he can play a full game at that level any more.

When Bradley is the QB, things happen. Seems like the US got away from him in the second half.

Nothing on the left side at all.

Not having Altidor hurt too. Injuries hurt the US but it shows the lack of talent on our side. Not enough speed with skill up top.

If Spurs lose Modrci, maybe Dos Santos can make up some of the slack

Redknapp doesn't like Dos Santos for the same reason he dislikes Pavlychenko, they don't run around like headless chickens all day which Redknapp sees as laziness or a lack of effort, he doesn't appreciate they have the technical ability to do something spectacular in a minute to change a game and don't need to chase the ball all day. Redknapp has always preferred tough midfield grafters as opposed to lightweight creative players. I would love to see Kun Aguero at Spurs but we'll never pay that sort of money :(

Bradley tried to play the aggressive game, it worked for the two goals we got, then Mexico started to counter attack and our defensive speed sucks.

Losing Cherundalo hurt bad. He was the best defender we had back there, and Bradley didn't seem to think to change our strategy and turtle more, we couldn't play catch up considering we had to be too aggressive leaving us wide open for counter attacks.

And yes, talent wise, we should have the better athletes. But Soccer (hey, it was the english who called it that) comes last to other sports. Guys would rather play football, baseball or basketball for a scholarship to college or money.

Women's soccer we compete on since our ladies don't have too many sports that are top dog like the men have.

What baffled me was if Onyewu was hurt and would be unable to play, why in the Hell would Bradley call him up? we could ha used the depth in this game.....Please Please Please no more Bornstein ever please

Just like Arsenal Football Club, their women are much better ;)

Too bad for Spurs then...Both their men and women (do they even have a women's team) are poor.

And on the USA note...Americans think football (we play with are feet don't you know?) is for sissies because we don't grapple and throw people to the ground and take steroids.

I think the Premiership needs cheerleaders though.

OUR?

OMG!

Fine. But knowing your grammar won't win you the world cup....and by the way your "our" shouldn't be in capitals, that's just wrong.

I take it you're English? You of all people shouldn't be talking about winning World Cups. When was the last time England won?:1orglaugh

At least we won it...But yeah you're right, we're rubbish. During international tournaments I become Spanish :).

That'll teach me to slow the hell down when I'm reading. I thought this was the weirdest conversation about a "USA Sorcerer" I'd ever read.
