underrated bands

i live right by the canadian border, so i was surprised that the tea party isnt as well known as i thought... theyre not one of my favorite bands, but theyre good enough to be known

Queens Of The Stone Age. These guys have had a couple of mainstream hits, and it didn't change them one bit. I think they legitimately don't give a shit about making it super huge, and it's earned them a devoted almost cult-like following. With all the shitty fucking rock on the radio these days, QOTSA still makes complicated, interesting music that is digestible for the masses without being dumbed-down bull-shit, yet they toil in relative obscurity to the casual music fan.

Ive played a few shows with these guys, good people

Ace Bandage

The one and only.

ill have to agree... for that type of music, they got pretty good exposure, even for just a short time. forgive my ignorance on the subject, but did they ever settle the dispute they had with their old bassist (not sure of name)? i heard he isnt very personable, and that while touring in germany with his new/sideband at the time, they actually left him behind...

Nick Oliveri. I wouldn't call it settled by any means, but it sounds like they're at least on speaking terms to some degree. He and Josh (Homme, the lead singer/guitarist) go back a ways, so I don't think he'd ever just completely shut him out. They way I understand it, Josh heard that Nick was abusing his girlfriend and told him to get the fuck lost until he sorted his shit out (I'm sure there were some other issues as well). As of right now, Mikey Shuman is playing bass alongside Josh, Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar) and Joey Castillo (drums). They always have a whole bunch of friends from other cool bands do guest spots on there albums as well, which is one of the reasons their records are always fresh and interesting in my opinion. If any of you are fans, you should check out "The Desert Sessions". Basically, a whole bunch of musicians from the desert rock scene, led by Josh Homme, head out to a sweet ranch in the middle of the desert and write and record albums with vintage equipment. It's excellent shit.

the ramones.

yeah, nowadays you see people claiming to be fans, but does anyone truly appreciate how awesome these guys were?

especially for their time, they were underrated. they never had an album even go gold til most of em were gone. and i think it was their greatest hits album, ramones mania. now that's punk. not worried about money, just doing their thing.

good fucking music too.
