UFC 104 took place tonight. In the main event Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida defended his 205 lb title against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Machida came into the fight having never lost a round in the UFC.
The fight went a full 5 rounds and Shogun was clearly winning the majority of the exchanges. He bloodied Machidas face and battered his legs so severely with leg kicks that Machida could barely walk by the end of the fight. Machida landed no significant shots other than a few knees to the body. Yet somehow, the judges gave the fight to Machida in a 48-47 unanimous decision.
When the decision was announced the entire Staples center booed loudly. Even Machida, looking like a beaten man, seemed suprised he got the decision. Clearly Rua was robbed.
