U.S. military wages war on the environment

American aircraft carrier jets tried to complete a bombing practice in Queensland last week, but the exercise was abandoned, and the flyboys couldn't make it back to the carrier with their bomb load. So they dumped four bombs into the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, according to a statement released by the U.S. 7th Fleet on Saturday. Although the bombs were unarmed, meaning none exploded, it was not a popular move. "Have we gone completely mad?" said Sen. Larissa Waters, the Green Party's spokeswoman, to the Australian Broadcasting Corp. "Is this how we look after our World Heritage area now? Letting a foreign power drop bombs on it?"

Yes, the world has gone completely mad because U.S. pilots dropped their unarmed ordnance over a piece of uninhabited ocean reef in order to save them from ditching the fully-laden planes into the ocean ANYWAYS or putting the lives of the pilots in jeopardy. Madness.

And they're going to recover the bombs.
