u n d e r 18

If you want to discuss the age of consent for anything else (certain drivers license, contracts, etc) except for sex, go for it. However, we're going to assume here that the legal age of sex is 18 and leave it at that. It causes less trouble.

if it is accepted in other countries, is it a sin or just a misconstruity of todays society to b so scornful...????:bs:

What? Were an evolved country meaning everything has a rule or a law. We also have a higher life expentacy than many poverished countries. I think those play into many other factors.

Uh oh.I can envision this thread getting shut down soon. All I can say is tread lightly.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I've always wondered, if in other countries, where 18 isn't the age of consent, can a 16 year old sign, and enter into a legal contract? Here in the states, it's not just adult material, etc., it's also the minimum age for many things, mostly of a financial nature. In fact, some things are 21...and not only alcohol, but driving a commercial vehicle.

In Australia, consent is 16, but you're not an adult (for legal contracts etc) until 18. Alcohol is 18. Nothing happens when you turn 21, yet many Aussies still like to make a big deal of their 21st, never understood that.
I think this is one case where the law can dictate morality. If she's legal, she's legal, IMO.

Yeah, this is one of those threads that's vague enough that you can't be sure what turn it might take. If he's not talking about sex (specifically), but about age of consent for contracts, etc., it would be kind of interesting to discuss how 18 was picked as the "proper age" for legal consent in most states. :2 cents:

As a truck driver, I would really like to know about those big ass "road trains" they run in Australia. I don't think you can get a CDL in the states, until you're 21, and most companies won't hire you unless you're 23, or 25...because of insurance.

Yeah, but commercial vehicles, come in all sizes. That doesn't necessarily mean tractor trailer...and I doubt any company, unless your family owns it, would insure you until you were at least 21, probably 23.

It's been so long since I've been in that situation...being over 40, and having been grandfathered into the CDL, I ashamedly must admit, I have forgotten some of those types of rules and laws.

I still remember the ones I need to for my everyday job though.

is this thread bout under 18 sex laws or under 18 driving????

As far as I can tell, it's just about age of consent in a general sense. Not specific to any particular area.

Course, I could be wrong. :dunno:
