I may be feeling may age or something, but text speak. Are what do you think of it?

Personally, I **** it. In what ever form, I **** it. I've always been told to type to the best of my ability, regularly write 3000+ word reports and I have had to mark numerous others. I have to communicate to other effectively as part of my work, and instantly disrespect anyone who can't show some effort and use proper English. However, when chatting to others, I often get text messages which have been heavily modified to take out everything that makes it English to reduce it to a few characters.

It used to be convenient when texting cost more, there was no predictive text and you had to cram everything into a few lines, but today it's not like that. Every PC will have a spell checker of some kind (I can think of four loaded onto this machine right now) and typing has never been easier, but still text speak keeps going.

I have seen numerous websites with **** who talk in it constantly (Myspace, MSN, other forums etc) and now us it as a default language. Something that I think is appalling, lazy and rude. I skip over post on this forum if there is too much text speak.

But what do you think? Do youthink text speak has a place? Will it be long lasting? Do you tolerate it or skip over it?

Over to you.
