TV programs that 'zombify' you

One day my little cousins were watching TV. I sat beside them on the couch and asked 'What are you watching?' 'Lazy Town', they answered on unison. For the first 30 seconds, I thought 'what a stupid program'... but it wasn't until it was time for advertisements, that I realized that I had been watching that program, almost without realizing it, it kind of zombified me and draw me into watching it... it's weird, I know. Do you guys have felt that way when watching any TV program?

:eyeso:....huhwhat? Ah yeah...I got zombified reading this...
No, actually it happens to me often, until commercials. Then I instantly snap out of it. I loathe commercials. Despise them. I have the need to either mute it and listen to music, change the channel or leave the room. It depends on if others are in the room.

Commercials suck. Yeah. You know, it does not happen to me often, the zombifying thing. I'm usually very aware of my surroundings and what I'm watching. Another program that had the same effect on me once was Spongebob squarepants. I'm discovering a pattern here. Modern television for children sucks. Nothing like the old programs, like Mazinger Z, Saint Seiya and others :D

I've never heard of either of those. I had Masters of the Universe, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and others.

I used to watch Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers when I was little, innocent, and didn't know about Freeones! :D

Real TV shows like big brother are very efficient to zombifying me.You never thought there is this level of stupidity, and they're always gotcha.

LukeEl

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
I will probadly be that way when AMC premires The Walking Dead in October. And the show is ironically about zombies.

TV generally is a zombifying medium all on its own, that's its job to get you to sit there and watch for as long as possible - no one show does it better than any other, it doesn't matter what's on TV it all has the same effect. The very act of watching the television at all brings about changes upon your person that you aren't consciously aware of: your heart rate slows, your brain releases hormones and you take on that 1000 yard stare. You have been "zombifyed."

The medium is the message. ;)

 I guess you're right.

And the 1000 yards stare is the most outstanding symptom of getting zombified :D

The news.
I mean, I still pay attention to it all and take it in, but when it goes to commercial, or ends, I notice I have this sense of zombification. It's like my brain has been telling itself "God damnit. What next?".
I guess it's not quite the same, since I'm paying attention to what's going on.

Now that you mention it, it does happen to me when I'm watching some show called "The Island" with my sister, I go through the exact same process. I keep thinking what a stupid show and end up watching for 90 minutes (not joking).
