Treme actor Michael Showers found dead at 45 in the Mississippi River

Michael Showers, star of Treme, has been found dead
Actor Michael Showers, who starred in the hit tv show Treme, has been found dead in mysterious circumstance.
The 45-year-old's body was pulled from the Mississippi River after it was spotted by a steamboat captain floating in the water around the New Orleans French Quarter.
Showers, who lived in nearby Chalmette, had been reported missing by his girlfriend on Tuesday when he failed to return home after going for a night out in the French Quarter with another man.
Showers had a recurring role playing Captain John Guidry, a police office, in the hit drama set in New Orleans neighbourhood of Tremé in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish coroner's office said showers appeared to have been in the water about two days.
He said an autopsy is due to take place to establish the cause of death.
Harbor police aboard the department's fire boat puklled the body from the river at around 11.45am on tuesday morning.
Showers' character in the show was involved in investigating the murder of the real-life helen hill, who was killed in 2007.

The gritty show, which is produced by the makers of HBO hit The Wire, has been praised by critics for it's realistic storytelling.
A third series is currently in production.
Aside from treme, showers had previously appeared in Breaking Bad, The Vampire Diaries, Tekken and Traffic.
