4 tornadoes tear across N. Arizona, damage homes
(AP) –
BELLEMONT, Ariz. — A rare swarm of tornadoes shoved semis off highways and destroyed homes in the pre-dawn darkness Wednesday, leaving startled residents wondering if they were in Arizona anymore or had woken up in the twister-prone Midwest.
After one tornado rumbled through Bellemont around 5:30 with wind speeds of up to 110 miles per hour, residents armed with flashlights emerged from their homes to check on the damage — a house splintered, windows smashed, garage doors twisted, but no major injuries.

Well they have dust devils out there. These just had enough oomph to become a real tornado.

Arizona struck by FOUR tornados in a single day, wrecking homes and destroying vehicles

Arizona was hit by a rare swarm of tornados on Wednesday with four twisters ripping through parts of the state causing considerable damage.

The region usually experiences only four tornados during the entire year but an extraordinary 22 extreme weather warnings were issued yesterday.

There have been no reports of any casualties as a result of the freak weather but numerous homes and vehicles were destroyed.

Mobile homes: Camper vans were also damaged at a trailer park along the Interstate 40

'The hammering that northern Arizona is getting right now is exceptional,' Ken Waters, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Phoenix, said.

'It's not uncommon this time of year to have one or two tornado reports or a warning, but this is quite an outbreak.'

Around 30 houses in Bellemont are reported to have been severely damaged with residents evacuated and moved to temporary shelters.

A camper van park off the Interstate 40 was also struck, with dozens of vans blown over. The resulting debris was strewn across local roads causing traffic chaos.

Meteorologists described the weather in Arizona as 'exceptional' with the storm system now moving northwards

Several train carriages were also derailed as a result of the tornado.

The tornados were the result of a low-pressure system which had been parked over central and southern California but is now drifting northwards.

Earlier in the week the weather system moved across the west of the U.S. dropping a record amount of rain in northern Nevada.

In Utah on Tuesday two teenagers were hospitalised after being struck by lightning outside their school.

It's ok. We all do it time to time. You just want to be number one in something so you do it more than anyone else! You're number ONE in this, Ulysses! And no one will dare try and compete with you! They no better.
