yet another list I can say bullshit to.
I could tear that list apart, but it would take too long so I'll just say bullshit and leave it at that.

thanks for posting though b/m.

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

I think it's important that every nation in the world acknowledge any wrongdoing in their past, it's not always about giving things back or reparations but allowing justice for your fellow man. It's saying that we as now civilised and equal people done things in the past that go against our current moral and ethical standards but we acknowledge this and will work towards a better future for all citizens, this can help create a more harmonious society and dispell anger held by those whose ancesters were unfairly treated in the past. Oh and great thread BM

I'm pretty sure there are a lot worse events that could have gone on that list. The dude who wrote that is just fucking tame. All his lists are pro-American and so his list doesn't even touch the worst stuff. Except for the whole Indian thing.

You can also add in the Japanese interment during World War II to that list. I always considered that right behind slavery, and the things we did to the native Americans like the Trail or Tears as the worst thing our country has ever did, among many many bad things.

And of course He lists the land grab and not the genocide. I love my country, probably to a fault, but this list doesn't even touch some of the worst episodes in American history. Where are the Japanese internment camps? What about the "Trail of tears"? Oh and organized crime was the result of fucktards trying to legislate morality.

Just a handful of them:

1 War of Northern Aggression
2 Founding of the Fed (and previous central banking institutions)
3 Prohibition of alcohol & drugs
4 War on Drugs & ATF & all the institutions it created
5 War on Terror & Patriot act & all the institutions it created
6 Imperialism and all of its inevitable Wars
7 Public health care & education
8 CIA, FBI
9 Homeland Security
10 EPA

and this:

I think it was the part of giving soldiers The Congressional Medal of Honor was what put it on the list. I would have added the medical experiments we did such as giving irradiated milk to an orphanage to test effects of radiation on developing bodies, the Tuskegee experiment, and others. :2 cents:

The Trail of Tears was literally buried at the bottom of the article.
And, yeah, the Japanese internment camps and the whole "Red Scare" McCarthyism was a huge stain on our history - a lesson many obviously have yet to learn from.

The list contains some cultural, economic, political and social developments in addition to particular "events". I think of an event as being a singular happening i.e.:

The massacre at Sand Creek
The lynching of Henry Smith
The murder of Emmett Till
The Rodney King beating
The Reginald Denny beating
The Fidel Lopez beating
The massacre at Wounded Knee
The Matthew Shepard murder
The James Byrd murder

The list could go on and on. These types of individual events portray the darkest side of our culture, not necessarily the United States as a nation or people. Some of these events took place as our cultural and social conscience was developing and therefore can be considered as catalytic events that, while extremely tragic and senseless at the time, ultimately led to positive change in our society.

America has nothing to apologize for. We're not perfect but we're a damned-sight better than anyplace else so anyone who wants to throw stones at us had better look to see what the walls of their house are made of beforehand. Similar lists could be compiled for every country on earth.

I'm surprised someone would consider organised crime which every nation has some form of and the Scopes trial, which did set a precedent that took years to overcome but is really rather light when compared with what could have been on the list, as two things worthy of discussion here. The Japanese internment camps, for example - as a few have listed above. If we're listing 'shameful' acts, for that to be disregarded (on top of a few other events) seems rather peculiar.

To whom it may concern:
I, PlasmaTwa2, bid you hello!
You don't know me...
Though you may have heard of me.
But that's not the point.
Long story short...
