This is actually relatively close if one considers that Petty is little underrated and Springsteen is highly overrated.

Definitely Petty. I saw Bruce Springsteen live in concert at Bonnaroo a few years ago. When I went to that festival, he was one of the few artists I recognized so I was really excited to see him. Ugh, it was so awful!!!! So awful.

Tom Petty. For me, it's not even close. Springsteen is OK, but (especially back in the 80's) ol' Tom used to "talk to me". I can still travel back through space and time when I listen to Full Moon Fever. Also, Petty was one of the (fictional) Wilbury brothers. And The Traveling Wilburys was the ultimate group (IMO) - pretty hard to beat Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty all in one group! :clap:

Petty. Springsteen is way overrated. "The Wrestler" is one of his songs that I would put with some of my all time favorites though. Love that song. But Petty is really bad ass. 'Echo' is a great album. Think I will spin that tonight/tomorrow in honor of this thread. The Wilbury's were amazing as well. Have all three of their discs burned.

I'm not so much of a fan of Petty,but I don't **** him,and there are a couple of songs that he has that I like.

Springsteen is pure trash.Every one of his songs range from tolerable to total ****.He's probably THE single most overrated US musician of all time.
