Tmobile sucks - unlimited internet scam

They are impossible to deal with. They say "unlimited internet" which is very dirty and probably illegal since they cap your internet at 10 gb's a month.

Comcast 250GB a month - $60 a month
T-mobile 10GB a month - $30 a month

On average I only use about 10gb - 20gb a month. It took me 18 days to go through my allotted 10gb a month.

It's funny that the phone companies say "unlimited internet", but Comcast does not and Comcast is clearly the better deal. I thought I was shopping around and getting a better deal, but clearly not.

You can't even argue that it's nice because you can use it anywhere, but most places seem to have WI-FI nowadays.

You guys ever had this problem? I'm so sick of companies that do this shit. They say it's written in the TOS, but clearly they are lying since to put a cap on the bandwidth is putting a limit on an unlimited internet deal.

What happened to you isn't even as bad as what happened to a lot of other people when basically the same thing you found out about most cell company's "unlimited" data plan was found out by them except they only got 5gb a month. In a lot of those plans people were paying 60-80 dollars a month for them.

I'm surprised they have been able to get away with blatant false advertising and deception for so long.

Can anyone find a commercial where it says unlimited internet (usage) rather than unlimited internet (where this seems to mean well UNLIMITED INTERNET without a cap.

All major phone companies, and ISPs have bandwidth caps. In California, Comcast is in the midst of fighting a class action lawsuit about it.

On a related note, what the fuck are you doing on your phone to require 5GB of data? Are you tethering your computer and using that as your primary internet?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the device is an aircard being used as a full time broadband connection but even as such..$30/10Gb is not bad at all.

For example, in my area Sprint used to offer an "unlimited" broadband plan for around $60 per....now I believe it's still $60 for 5Gb (3G tech) or $60 for unlimited 4G.

There are several points about the mobile device data contracts:

A - There still is a LOT of infrastructure to build until it can take off as people expect the service. And that costs a LOT of money

B - The term 'Unlimited' in communications is impossible. There are physical and, consequently, financial limits to every service. For you to have the full range you desire, would mean for all others to get offline, and even then you would have limits.

C - You might imagine an 'All You Can Eat' at a restaurant and someone coming by with an elephant. Some things just go beyond use. Yes, the phone companies offer deals liek that, but only because every otehr company does so too. Any company that would be real about their offering deals would soon drop out the race because customers demand the impossible.

So use your common sense.

While tethering certainly is an option, cellphone companies offer broadband internet services as well. The OP didn't state that he used it directly through his phone...or at least, I didn't infer that.

I had to look at what they offer, and that's it, through a broadband card. $24.99 for 200MB and 5GB for $39.99, most of the rest are tiered based on a corresponding cell phone plan, but the prices look to be cheaper than any other cell phone company for comparable products.

All cell sites (aka towers but some have tower type antenna arrays some don't) connect to their respective switch or site controller by ISDN circuit aka t-carrier. T-Mobile actually has an ISP it purchased...Mobilestar or something like that...
