Thor is coming!

Interesting choice .. and Josh Hartnett is rumored for Loki? ... ok.

I never read any Thor comics. what is up with this guy?

I mean Thor is a mythological hero, so the idea of having him as a comic book character seems pretty weird. does he fight crime? is he immortal or did he time travel into the the present day? was he a normal guy that got superpowers or was he just always thor, like the "real" one? I don't get it.

Thor is the Norse god of thunder. :)

He became too arrogant so his father Odin banished him to live as a human--Dr. Donald Blake--in order to learn humility. He vacationed in Norway as Blake and was attacked by Stone Men from Saturn ( understand, it was the '60s :D ), so he ran into a cave but was trapped inside. He took a wooden stick he found in the cave to try and move the rock trapping him, but the rock was too heavy. He slammed the stick against the rock in frustration and was transformed back into Thor--turns out his father Odin had subconsciously guided him to Norway and the cave, since he'd decided his lesson in humility was over.

Now feeling a connection to humanity because of his time as Blake, Thor decided to use his formidable powers (super-strength, flight, invulnerability, ability to control weather) and hammer Mjolnir (which the stick Blake found turns into when he transforms) to protect Earth as a superhero.

That's pretty much the gist of Thor. :hatsoff:

I'm familiar with the mythology, just not the comic book. I actually did used to have one issue and it was when Thor dies. I don't really remember what happened, just that he was fighting this giant space robot kinda like a Galactus rip-off and his hammer shattered and then he got whooped. Probably would be worth some bucks today.

I also had an issue where The Thing wanted to die and he kept trying to commit suicide but he was unable to because he was indestructible. Pretty dark stuff for Marvel back in those days.

Last I checked every single movie genre out there comes out every year so what's the difference?
Genre, as in drama or comedy, is a much broader term than just super hero movies.

All I mean is they tend to become repetitive. A new hero doesn't change that. It's the same stories, just different skins. None of that will ever change as long as they're lucrative though. And a lot of people obviously enjoy them - maybe I'm an exception.

Karl would be ideal. he has that whole furrowed eyebrow thing he used to effect in "Xena: Warrior Princess". He has shown some acting chops in the recent "Star Trek" as Bones. Some quite big shoes to fill.

Can you imagine Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Thor?

Er...sorry. Sounded funny in my head.

I would like to see Black Widow - she is hot, but she is the ultimate women's lib babe, I'd say

And yeah, an Avengers movie with Scarlet Witch, Ironman, Vision, etc.

The 90ies avengers would be a great story

I read somewhere that Hilary Swank was cast in a cameo role in Iron Man. Rumors are that she may be playing Black Widow.

I saw you got caught in the trap by the automatic transformation into the babe index link section

I guess both of us are talking about the super-heroine
