Pujols contract is multi-year. Mantle's was yearly.

Ok, i have to reply because this really irks me. Of course you, a white man, would like to go back to the 1950s. Ask a black person if he wants to go back to the 50s, ask a gay or lesbian person, ask a woman. What you don't get is that that time period wasn't good good for alot of people unless you were a white man

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

What in the hell does this very simple expression of the increases in the costs of living, have to do with your little tangent about, what seems to be racism? All I see is a list of things that have dramatically changed in price, and the percentage it's increased.

I was in a bar in Astoria Queens a year or so ago and the bartender had the Queens accent that was exactly like Marisa Tomei in that movie. She even kinda looked like her. I was fucking smitten.

That reminds me that I need to go back there soon.

I have no idea why it irks you, really. Times were tough on a lot of people and they eventually got over it and moved on. Ever consider how the Irish were treated when they first started arriving in America? How about the Italians? The Germans? But, I digress..

Rather than get into it with you over racial disparity, how about you take the thread for what it was meant for? As in, understanding the differences between how things were economically in the 1950s versus 2010? That's all it was about Iceman. Nothing more, nothing less.

How about throwing away that deck of race cards you are always playing, and get over it.

Sorry Sam, for derailing your thread with Marisa Tomei (though you have to admit she's nice to look at and she's a firecracker.)

That right there is insane. That's $1,000 in 1955 money. Especially considering the first all color primetime season wasn't until 1966.

I'm just glad I was born when I was. It seems to be the sweet spot.

When did women and gays become a race? My point was that while maybe economically people did better in the 50s, that time period was not good for most people. Therefore if you pose the question of are we better off then or now, it's disingenuous to say we were better off then . Blacks were second class citizens and had basically no rights. The role of a woman in the 50s was to graduate from high school, get married, have kids and become a housewife and if you were gay, there was no way that you could come out back then.

I'd stay here. Advances in medicine, care for the elderly, reduction of racism, greater travel options, advanced academic possibilities...All these things are hard to trade up for cheaper stuff.

You forgot ease of access to porn. Thank you Internet!

Of course back in the '50s without these here webz Sam would be stuck only being able to troll his neighbors... so that would be a plus for the rest of us. Damn you Internet! Why you gotta be a mixed bag like that! :cussing:
